This time we spent one night at the Monte Carlo and then three nights at Mandalay Bay (where the trade show I was working at was located). Survey results were that Mandalay Bay ROCKED, while Monte Carlo was...ok.
Andrew and I are both seafood fanatics so we did my birthday dinner at a place called RM Seafood. RM stands for Rick Mooney a fairly famous chef (photos below). The food there was amazing; a very fun atmosphere. The food was delicious, wine was tasty and we split a very yummy dessert (pumpkin spice creme brulee french toast).
This restaurant is located right as you head out of Mandalay Bay on your way to the Luxor. If you're ever in Vegas and looking for a great seafood joint, we'd highly recommend this one.
We also did a second birthday dinner with some of my coworkers another night. There's a place called "Mix" located on the 64th floor of "The Hotel" at Mandalay Bay. It is basically at the top of the building shown in the photo below. AMAZING views of the Las Vegas strip from here. If you're ever there and looking for a great view - take a trip up the express elevator and chill up there for a while. There's also a nice lounge/drink area next to the restaurant. Had a very good time at this birthday dinner #2 as well!
Whenever we got to Vegas, we always try to make a point of stopping by the conservatory in the Bellagio; enjoy seeing how they decorate it. The winter/holiday theme this time was very pretty!
The Las Vegas Marathon was going on the morning of my birthday so we walked around and looked at the HUGE crowd of runners and observers! They shut down Las Vegas Blvd for the run with people starting and ending their runs at Mandalay Bay.
A lot has changed building-wise in Vegas since last January. They've been working on this huge "City Center" project for a while and this time some of the buildings were actually finished. This is all located between the Monte Carlo and the Bellagio.
